Dutch Delight

We have just returned from this site after a fantastic 12 night stay. The Staff are very helful and the site is kept spotlessly clean. The site is in the middle of a park/nature reserve and is excellent for dog walking. The city of Delft is only a 20minute walk or you can take the excellent city shuttle for 2 euro per day. The only downside was the background motorway noise but with a site this close to everything you have to expect some noise. The swimming pool was very welcome with temperatures hitting 30c some days and this was kept in tip top condition. Great safe site for children with plenty of things to do and see around the area. We would love to go back to explore more. one point to note is DO NOT use the directions in the caravan club 2016 europe touring book as they are wrong!!

Amazing time in Holland!

We went to Holland the first 2 weeks of August. Both ferry ports Harwich and Hook of Holland were friendly, professional and efficient. Stena Line ferries was a pleasant experience. The camp site was very good and clean. The pitches weren’t quite as spacious as our Caravan Club pitches in the UK, but were adequate. There was a motorway background noise at times, but wasn’t at a level to be a nuisance. The electricity supply wasn’t quite as robust either and was a little sensitive in the evenings at peak times, but was ok. The site was a short cycle from Delft a beautiful town with great restaurants, lovely shops and a superb rail station/network. Everywhere was cycle friendly the infrastructure and culture is set for cycling and it’s very safe. We caught the train to Amsterdam on 2 occasions which was painless and very relaxed! A beautiful city with lots to do. We done a lot of the normal site seeing and shopping, but the canal trip and trams were brilliant. The camp site, the Dutch people, Holland etc was an amazing experience, which we strongly recommend for those wanting to try something a little different. There is lots to do, but relaxing is very easy! We booked everything through the Caravan Club the service was first class and cost effective, which made going abroad an affordable option.

Excellent site

We're just returned from 5 nights and we love this site, excellent facilities and all staff are eager to help at every opportunity. Excellent location for Rotterdam, Amsterdam etc. Active kid club on site who keep the little ones busy all day. Excellent links to cycle routes.

Great Location

Stayed for 12 nights in July and loved the site. The location is perfect for getting into Delft (within walking distance - 15 minutes) or you can get a bus or electric taxi outside the site. Staff were very friendly and we loved the home baked bread on site. Well stocked shop and very clean facilities. Lovely and peaceful which was a surprise being so close to the City although you do get some traffic noise from the motorway at times. The site is set in a large country park with cycle paths and lakes. Delft is a lovely city with plenty to do and see. We didn't use the site restaurant but felt this could do with some investment to make it more attractive. Wouldn't recommend driving in Delft but the public transport is fantastic so you don't need to. You can get to many other places by train, tram or bus. This was our first time in the Netherlands and we will definitely return. The site is easy to find from the ferry port providing you follow the site/club directions and not your Sat Nav.

good family holiday site

Have just had 14 nights on this site the only complaint we have is the swimming pool is not as big as the photos would suggest so if you want to be able to swim this is not the site for you . But the cleanliness of the whole complex can not be faulted and you would struggle to find more helpful and friendly staff

Don't follow directions!!

DON'T FOLLOW ANY DIRECTIONS THAT TELL YOU TO GO UNDER THE MOTORWAY - This is now for buses only with a concrete trap in the road and width-restricting bollard. If you do take this route, you will either rip the bottom out of your car, or damage the sides of your van or both!! From any direction come off the motorway at junc 9 and take the main road towards IKEA; at the roundabout just in front of their car park turn left (Olaf Palmestraat I think) then turn right at the end onto the road into the park; this is the only safe way to get to the correct side of the motorway. Site is about a mile on the left.

4th year running and still not bored

This was our fourth year in a row visiting Delftse Hout for 2 weeks from July 8th- 23rd and we were afraid we may have exhausted all the area had to offer but how wrong we were. The site met with the standards of the previous visits in all aspects- staff courtesy, nothing too much trouble, facilities spotless etc. Having visited all the usual tourist haunts on previous stays ( Den Haag, Gouda, Amsterdam and so on) we made good use of the cycle route map we'd purchased from the Tourist Info shop in Delft on our 2013 visit for €6 and plotted a few scenic cycle rides of our own. It really is simple & if you've never done it- give it a go. Jot down the numbers of your chosen route from the map then off you go and follow the green & white signs with the corresponding numbers. We found a beautiful route to Maassluis, which is a pretty place a stones throw from Hoek van Holland and therefore too close to be overused as a stop off point for visitors disembarking, which took us along canals most of the 10 miles, through Schipluiden and other small villages/hamlets with stunning scenery and wildlife to view along the way (as well as the odd greenhouse or two!). We are definitely booking again for next year and already looking for more routes to try when we get there. Delft itself is a city we never tire of and are still finding parts tucked away which we never knew were there. We cannot really praise the site or the area highly enough. The only slight drawback is that the "Camping Kids Club" can be a little noisy and boisterous at times but mainly at the twice daily roundup (basically the Pied Piper on a bicycle) but it keeps the children occupied and isn't really an issue unless you're the seriously grumpy type who resents anyone enjoying themselves in which case this is not the site for you anyway.

An Enjoyable Stay at Delftse Hout

We stayed here from 30th June for 5 nights. At the time of our arrival it was pouring with rain and the reception staff very kindly offered to help us move our caravan onto the allocated pitch which was a bit water logged and muddy. The site is well located for walking into Delft, which is a very picturesque town. The local bus stops outside the campsite and we used this and the trams to visit The Hague and Scheveningen. We also took the train from Delft Central Station for a day trip to Amsterdam. The toilets/showers are all kept very clean and there is a well stocked shop on site selling fresh bread in the mornings. The staff were extremely pleasant and couldn't do enough to help us. There was distant traffic noise from the nearby A13 motorway, but this did not disturb us too much. The site was quite easy to find (we came from the Hook of Holland), but you do need to follow the directions given by the site - do not use the sat nav.
