Not sure that this is a site for Tourers anymore.

When we arrived we found it very difficult to park up our unit as there didn't seem to be any arrival area for caravans. We were greeted by a very pleasant young lady who spoke perfect English. Initially she was unable to find our booking and when she did find our details it appeared someone had failed to allocate us a “Welcome pack” Our pitch was flat but situated near a cup de sac of chalets. Some pitches were very very small. This had obviously been a large Caravan/Motorhome site in the past but many of the fresh water taps had overgrown and the drains were somewhat difficult to find. The site had two toilet/shower blocks, one which was in the middle of a residential chalet area? However both blocks were cleaned regularly, with plenty of hot water and good size cubicles. The Chemical waste was located here also The Bar and restaurant offered a good selection of both alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages and although the menu was limited the food was well presented and edible. There was limited entertainment on site. One of the main features of this site were its Pool complex, and compared to other sites we had visited this was a proper complex. There were two large swimming pools, an indoor pool with sliding glass sides and roof, a toddlers swimming pool and water toys and some aqua slides, but it was so busy you couldn’t get a lounger (The usual towel crowd resaving early each morning) WiFi here was on subscription. Whilst the site was well maintained and managed we got the feeling that Caravans were tolerated. As I stated previously many fresh water taps were overgrown with weeds and the drains were equally as bad. I did speak to a couple who had been visiting the site for the past 7 years and they could tell us that over that time the number of touring pitches had been reduced in favour of Statics. Interestingly the caravan club claims that this site has 183 touring pitches . A map of the site shows 36, all of which I counted. Once again the descriptions given by the Club have been grossly exaggerated. Come on Caravan Club get your inspection done and don't blame Covid, touring pitches were reducing over 5 years ago. Having walked the site it is obvious what it is developing into and I don't believe that it be a venue for Tourers much longer, so even if I did consider returning, which I won't, I don't think the opportunity will be available much longer

Comment from the Club:

Thankyou for your review and we are glad that you found the site to be well maintained and managed. We will follow up your other points with the site. The site does only have a small number of touring pitches and only 281 pitches in total. We apologise for the inaccurate information, another site's details have been used in error. We have now updated our website and brochure for 2023. Les Peneyrals is still very happy to welcome Tourers on site. Thank you again for the feedback.

Fantastic

We stayed here for 8 nights in July 2018. I often find that on French sites the offer of comprehensive ‘Animation’ (entertainment) is what gets them the 5th Star. However, this sometime comes at the cost of peace and quiet. We have an 8 &10 year old, so usually find it very difficult to get the right balance of entertainment for them and a place to relax for us. Well, at this site we managed to find such a combination… What a fantastic place!! From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we had a thoroughly nice time. A quote from the kids was “I wish we could have stayed there for all of the holiday”. A huge compliment indeed, given that we went on to stay at some very very nice places. You will find no hidden surprises when you arrive as you get what is promised in the brochure and more!! I would recommend this site to anybody with or without children. Thank you from making our 2018 tour. 

What a find!

We had 10 nights here in early May 2016. All site facilities were open, even though the site was very quiet. Welcome was very friendly and the staff helpful throughout our stay. The pitches were all of a generous size, ours had Wi-Fi, electric, water and grey waste points adjacent. Unusually for France, grey water disposal was "wastemaster friendly". There was a lovely looking water complex, but the weather was such that we didn't try it. Facilities were immaculate. There's loads to do in the immediate area, with various caves, castles and prehistory sites. The town of Sarlat is a gem and only about 15 mins drive away. There is a large Carrefour as you approach Sarlat from the site and a smaller Intermarché at Salignac-Eyvigues about 4km away. The site shop, was also reasonably comprehensive. Eurocamp and Canvas Holidays both have mobile homes on the site, but they seem to be away from most of the touring area.
