We booked an overnight stay at Camping Chateau de Gandspette for convenience on a Friday evening before traveling further afield on the continent  the following morning.  For reasons unknown I was expecting a bog standard campsite with few facilities (I booked for convenience and its proximity to the channel ports as we would be arriving late on the Friday evening).  What we discovered was an absolute gem of a campsite hidden away in a small, unassuming French town.  We were greeted by the reception staff who spoke fluent English and directed to our pitch that was located among the manicured grounds and surrounding woodland.  The facilities were second to none and the atmosphere was calm and relaxed.  Having arrived earlier than expected we set off to explore and found a great swimming pool, sports facilities and a well stocked bar and restaurant.  All of the staff members we encountered were well mannered and polite and more than happy to stop and chat.  Our stay was all to brief but I was impressed enough to want to book a longer stay and explore this region of France in more detail.  Overall an excellent experience and a wonderful campsite.  I shall not be too quick to judge in future!
