The review is rather contradictory in terms.
The reviewer doesn’t care much for the site but has visited twice and is likely to do so again. He/she agrees that it is very popular but likens it to a car park.
It is what it is and people visit because it’s where they want to be.

We have been visiting Rowntree Park for 45 years. We love its closeness to York and we dont need to use the car. Lots of walking used to be on our agenda but age and dodgy knees have changed that! Bishopthorpe Road covers most of your needs. (Try the Hospice charity shop next to Sainsburys especially if you need to stock up on books.) We have met lots of different wardens over the years and could not find fault with a single one of them. The toilet block is on its 3rd reincarnation in that time and its great. My husband agrees the water in the washing up area is not hot enough but he says its the same at every site. I wouldnt know! We find the majority of pitches are a great size and we find the site quite green. We also noticed when we were there in June lots of bird song. When we read some of the reviews we wonder if we have been visiting the same site for all these years! We hope we will be able to return to York again unless we have to give up caravanning in the next year.
