Perhaps the other outfit had phoned ahead and asked if it would be OK to arrive early. Perhaps the warden was concerned with stacking room and realised that it was easy for you to turn around but not the caravan outfit. I don't suppose that you enquired why and so we will never know.

If you know you are going to arrive early why not park up on the outskirts of York and then plan to arrive after 12.00. Why do some members think that they must be first in the queue. I must reiterate my previous comment and say that the wardens on site are the most polite wardens we have come across in our opinion. If you arrive after 12 there is no problem so why arrive early

We arrived the 3.12.17 at 1300 there was no problem, but we parked on the last layby on A64 from Leeds to York we left the layby at 1130 & it took us 1 hour 30 minutes to get to the site, It is very hard to judge the traffic situation till you leave the A64 then it is to late because there is nowhere to park enroute to the site, my outfit is 13 mtrs long so it is more testing.The wardens had a pitch allocated for me so you don,t need to panic to get the best pitch. But a word of warning don,t park on the last layby on the A64 because No1 the layby can only take 2 large vehicles No2 you can,t judge it on the approach & No3 it is about 400 mtrs after a slight left hand bend. I have a powerful 4x4 car & it was terrifying to say the least waiting for a gap because when the cars see your indicators on they speed up, ( its the caravan in front syndrome) as for the wardens, Top notch ladies & gentlemen in my eyes. sit back in your van & think would you do that job Rain, Wind, Snow Watching everybody having a good time while your working & on call 24/7, I could,nt so bless em all & wish all Wardens & fellow caravaners &(motorhomers) a happy,healthy Xmas & new year From the North Wales Moth
