Rear Gate Access

The site is well presented and kept spotless with great shower facilities & we enjoyed our stay but....... My only gripe is the fact the back gates are padlocked at 22:00. At the moment & for the foreseable future the road including footpath at the front of the site into York City is closed for flood defence work meaning the only access to the city is via the back gates, This meant we had to cut our nights out short to return before the gate was locked making it feel like a curfew. The reason I was told is because members keep leaving it open, c'mon CAMC do something about this, other places hotels alike would have an automatic gate with electronic key fob. The gate itself is poorly designed, poorly lit and could easily be improved to benefit guests access.

What did  the on site staff say when you spoke to them about your concerns with pedestrian access via rear gate to the site?

When I asked the site warden why the gates were locked, the response was because of noise problems from NHS staff and students staying at the adjacent hotel using the rear gate!!!

Members are given a key for the gate when they arrive, but the warden considers guests should be home and in bed  by 2200hrs!  And double locks the gate.   So if you wish to go out for an evening meal in the City or to savour a beer at one of the excellent local pubs, be back for 10 pm or face a long walk back over the Millennium Bridge, great news for us Oap's Eh !!!

I think is is the Warden not wishing to tackle the real problem of strangers walking through the site!!!
