Excellent site, friendly helpful staff.
I stayed one night in February the day after Storm Eunice. The site was in danger of flooding, yet the highly competent, experienced and very friendly staff, managed to keep it safe, and open as long as possible under the most taxing of circumstances. Facilities were spotless accessed via a ramp or steps. Site is all hard standing, essential because it is low lying. Pitches are flat and mainly divided by hedges. Some other reviewer said it felt like a "car park". Well, it didn't at all to me. The website clearly warns about current site restrictions and possible daytime noise, but the works are due to end soon - check with the site.. The point about this site is that it is near the centre of the beautiful tourist city of York, which is within walking distance for ordinarily fit people, and if necessary, an efficient taxi service can collect and return. Yet it is situated in a park, with a delightful river walk, so it is very popular. Book well ahead if you can. The staff went out of their way to make my short visit successful. My wife and I will certainly be booking at Rowntree Park again.
