Disappointing

The site was disappointing for us for a few reasons. The facilities are clean and tidy but dated and we thought for the premium of the site these should be better. There's nowhere for children to play on the site - it is near a park but we would never let our 6 year old go there by himself. The hotel being built next to the site created noise digging, banging, clattering all day long so the site is not relaxing. The receptionist didn't seem very happy and it seemed a hassle to help people. The ground staff decided to cut the grass in the evening when people were trying to sit out (also creating a loud noise). Its quite a compact site trying to squeeze as many pitches in as possible. By far the most expensive site we've stayed at. One the plus side its brilliant if you want to walk into York but other than that I'd stay else where and visit York for the day. We've got other dates booked here that we will be cancelling.

No doubt the lease (I presume that it is leased) is expensive given the location.

Not a site that I would use as I would probably only enter York once and so would opt for the CC site just outside and P&R.

Given some of the hot and humid days here I might well have left grass cutting until 4pm if using a powered hand mower rather than a sit on.

It is a shame that there is no playground but not a surprise given the nature of the site and the proximity of the park. The CC does say that young children are to be supervised on play equipment however where provided.
