Centre of York
The location of the site couldn't be better, located in a beautiful park with a 10 minute stroll along the river to the centre of York and one of the entrances to the ancient walls. We stayed in the new part of the site, which seemed to be a wee bit more spacious than the rest of the site despite there being little in the way of greenery between pitches. Our pitch was right next to the footpath to the park, which seemed to have raucous teens walking by until quite late, so I would suggest perhaps avoiding pitch no. 89 in the summer. As always with CC sites, it is totally immaculate from the grounds to the toilet block. For dog walkers, the park is great but further on and over the millennium bridge there is a 'wild' part where dogs can be let off the lead and have a good run. We stayed for four nights and there was certainly enough to see and do in York to keep us entertained. We booked a free walking tour which was brilliant and would definitely recommend as the guide highlighted points of interest that most of us would miss. All in all, I can definitely understand why this is such a popular site and well worth visiting.
