A slightly different perspective, for a change
We are very familiar with this site and City and have stayed here many times during the past 10 years but unfortunately our new van has not arrived yet re the delays and we had to cancel our booking. we were coming with long time friends who are brand new campers in a brand new van. I checked beforehand that the rules for visiting on site were back to pre pandemic situation and decided to book into the ApartHotel adjacent the site, Roomzzz, for a couple of nights so we could help our friends set up, settle in and learn how to use some of the bits of their new van they were not familiar with before leaving them to their own devices for 2 further nights.
Upon arrival our friends made the Warden on entry reception aware they were newbies and we were to visit to assist but I was happily surprised how much information and offers of assistance was given to them by the Warden, I didn't get his name unfortunately. He shortly afterwards arrived at their chosen pitch and offered further assistance with how to position their PVC and connect electrics etc. I thought this was extremely helpful and not what I received when we were brand new and on our own. I just though he was excellent.
The 2 ladies on reception upon learning they were brand new took their time to explain the booking in procedure and explain the site information that they needed to know.
Over the next couple of days, when we visited from our hotel, we met another Warden, Matt Bulmer who after checking who we were, which was reassuring, also offered much support and contact to our friends providing friendly reassurance and offers of help. I was really pleased to see this taking place throughout the whole team at York and I thought I would write a review to simply recognise and thank all the team for their help.
Re the site it was nothing less than immaculately clean in every way and all the staff gave a positive, friendly and a welcoming atmosphere was very apparent. Well done you all.
We also had a great time visiting York once again, a great site with perfect location despite the flood defence work making foot access a bit more time consuming than normal, but only by a matter of minutes to go via the rear gate. These will be finished I understand in July.
