A site full of contradictions!
We have just returned from a 5 night stay with our grandchildren, aged 12 and 14. The positives are the location and cleanliness of the site. The wardens work hard to keep a busy site running as smoothly as possible, but it would have helped if they had pointed out before we pitched that the pitch markers aren’t necessarily in the middle of the pitch, owing to the back to back arrangement of the pitches with only a couple of feet between them. This leads to one of the drawbacks - although we appreciate this is a city site, the lack of any ground surface other than grey hardstanding adds to the general feeling of over-crowding and feels quite claustrophobic, especially when you can hear the TV in the unit backing onto yours, and barking of dogs also feels very close. We worked hard to ensure we were ready to leave by 10am, but it turned into quite a stressful experience as we have a 5berth single axel tourer, and had been on a pitch where the arrangement was hedge, caravan, awning, car, hedge. This, together with being opposite a very long Motorhome, made the manoeuvring of the van to hitch to the car on the road, a more protracted activity than normal, even though we were using a mover. We stopped several times before getting the van onto the narrow road to let others pass, but finally just had to keep going as fast as possible to complete hitching up. By this time there was 5 Motorhomes sitting waiting (generally patiently, but not exclusively so). Has any thought been given to either separating out the pitches for motorhomes and caravans, or any form of change of flow for leaving the site, say from 9.30 to 11.30?
The weather and the city itself made it a very successful trip, but not sure we’d want to revisit without a specific reason.
