Stayed 5 nights March 17. Nice quiet site, wardens are very friendly and accommodating so thanks. The site is a little out of the way, so you need a car to visit surrounding area. If you want to go to York then there are several options. Bus 181 outside nearby toby carvery. Although this only runs couple of times a day so not really practicle. Drive to Monks Cross park and ride, ideal for retail park (many shops) and bus to york. Or walk to in around 25 mins, then bus to York. However if your drinking in York then recommend taxi at £10 each way. 😎😎. We walked to York which took us 1hr and is a long walk on grass verge along fast road so not really recommended and certainly not in the dark or rain. Meal @ Toby Carvery nice (short walk) and there's another eatery at Monks Cross (car needed). Showers tiered but clean, would benefit from refurb which I'm sure will come. All in all, nice site but need transport for most things except the Toby Carvery. Great wardens. Will stay again as love York . Dave & Tracy.
