We enjoyed a weekend break here at the end of February. Very friendly helpful wardens, though they seemed a little understaffed. The site is well kept with clean, but slightly tired, toilet block etc. A few of the floor tiles are coming away in the shower cubicles and a little tlc is required. The park and ride at Monks Cross is only a mile or so from site, but the lack of pavements makes it an unpleasant/unsafe walk, especially in the dark. There is, however, dedicated motorhome parking at Monks Cross, with very regular busses in to town. We walked to the P&R in the morning and got a cab £11.00 back from the centre of town in the evening, which worked very well. Would certainly visit again.
