A successful quick break in York
We've visited this site before several times and have always enjoyed it. The wardens are SO friendly, welcoming and helpful. They are always happy to stop for a chat and a joke but they get the balance exactly right; when you're in a hurry to get on they seem to know and don't bother you. This site feels to be in really safe hands with them. It's well managed, facilities are kept in working order and immaculately clean, and it appears to run like clockwork.
I've read some of the previous recent reviews on the removal of trees and this is truly a case of one man's meat being another man's poison. I was SO sorry to see how many trees have been taken down from this site. I appreciate it's November and the leaves are off mostly down now so the place will look bare anyway, but it has been made so much worse by the removal of these trees. I dread to think what it will be like in full bloom - so sparse and bare. The site enjoys access through well established deciduous woodlands and itself had a wonderful coverage of greenery which not only helped attract wildlife, but also provided some screening from the road noise. The A64 is close by and the site needs all the baffling it can get. I don't understand why what appears to be such savage cuts have been made to a site which is after all called "Beechwood Grange" Please don't take any more down. The site will lose the very feature that attracted us to it in the first place!
