Superb Staff

I have previously reviewed this site. The staff are always helpful and the site is maintained to the highest possible standards. Grounds neat and the blocks are spotless. The site is convenient for access to York via 1) car or walk to Park and ride, then bus to York Centre 2) the CAS bus (near to the Toby Inn) or the 840/843 bus via Stockton Lane, or 3) the walk via Millennium Way and Bad Bargain Lane (details in the information hut). During my visit I put the system to the test. I was due to leave on Monday 29th. On Sunday 28th I had a fall on ice, resulting in a visit to A&E (Via the ambulance) and an admission with a serious head injury. I did not get out until 1st December and then was unable to drive. My caravan and car were recovered in the 3rd December via MAYDAY. The staff looked after my car and caravan whilst I was in Hospital. They were also extremely supportive and helpful on my return. An incident such as this shows the true humanity and helpfulness of staff. They were superb. They all went the extra mile. I will be back in 3 weeks (providing the medical profession allow me to drive by then).

Maiden voyage

First time away in our new to us van and probably couldn’t have picked a better site. Keith the warden met us with a friendly greeting and on explaining it was our first time guided us to a very easily accessible pitch very close to the facilities. The pitch was perfectly level and very easy to access. The washrooms and showers were spotlessly clean and the showers piping hot and the site itself immaculate. The area is beautiful just now ditch the surrounding trees in their autumn colours. Thank you Beechwood Grange we will be sure to return.

Another fantastic weekend

We have been to Beechwood many times before and like the site for its location offering many options for activities while there, including York, Monks Cross and the East Coast if you want to travel a little further. Our arrival at the site was met by the wardens who took the trouble of looking up the registration of the car and greeted us by name so immediately made us feel welcome. The site itself was immaculate, well maintained, clean with grassed areas, although not in use, well cut and looked after. As with most sites where families go there was a certain amount of noise from children playing to dogs barking and people generally enjoying themselves escaping life for however long they are away, especially during these current challenging times. Many thanks to to the wardens for making us feel welcome and relaxed from the minute we arrived to when we left after 2 very short days,

Marathon weekend stay

A lovely quiet place to stay and use as a base for competing in the York Marathon. Very friendly staff and lovely hot showers in the modern facility block. The staff welcomed my family as visitors to the site to support me during my marathon run. Easy to book in and didn't pay for them until they arrived. We intend to return to visit the sites of York in a more leisurely fashion!

Great site, small amount of road noise

Stayed 2 nights with motorhome. Great site , grea facilities , small amount of road noise from A64. Used park and ride at Grimston Bar. £6.60 for 2 adults. Large car park area solely for Motorhomes. Would definitely use this site again.

A favourite of ours

Once again a very nice friendly welcome on arrival, this I think makes all the difference to the start of your holiday be it long or short. This site is very well placed to all kind of attractions whatever your preference. Covid has made most of us cautious and certainly don't feel at risk on this site, it is quiet and clean and well maintained and one of our regular places to visit.

Another visit to a fantastic site

Once again we have stayed at this fantastic site, one of the best we have used after 12 months of using the club sites due to staying in our motorhome this year whilst looking for a new home. The site is well cared for the facilities are immaculate and the wardens are the most professional yet approachable and friendly wardens we have encountered. Well done !

Superb site for both town and country excursions

We have stayed at Beechwood Grange many times over the years with motorhomes and now a caravan. Such a wonderful, well cared for site this is. The facilities have had a full make-over since our last visit and are top class, rivalling anywhere on the club circuit, or abroad for that matter. Efficient and helpful staff as always, keeping the site and facilities in immaculate order. For tenters there is unusually a dedicated field on which to pitch. A large field is provided for dog walking. We explored the Wolds to the north east of York, having ‘done’ the city on past visits. This is a beautiful area with much to see both historically and scenically. A trip to Scarborough is very easy if the coast takes your fancy. All in all a very pleasant experience.

Stunning Location

Booked to stay for 7 days as wanted to visit York and do all the sights. This site is spotless, the shower blocks are spacious, although there is only one of them but i was never kept waiting for a free cubicle. The tv reception was good and so was the wifi, we used our phones to tether it. Used monks cross to picadilly park and ride to get to the center of york on a couple of occasions but also drove and was able to park, we used castle car park, the car parks are very expensive. The site was easy to find and very peaceful. Beautifully maintained and the staff were very friendly. Just down the road in walking distance is a toby carvery which we had to book online for the carvery. I would defo come back to this site, in fact i would say its now my favourite site.

Good Site

I love this site. I enjoy walking and find the walk into York, either via Bad Bargain Lane or Osbaldwick are both enjoyable. There is even a bus back to Hopgrove (10 minutes walk from the site). The A64 is near but does not cause a problem. Nice Chippy 1 mile away (Thompsons - on side of A64 towards Scarborough). Loads of Shops and Park and Ride at Monks Cross (1 mile way). The site is well maintained and well run. Some use it as a transit camp to break their journey. This is a shame as they miss out on what it has to offer.. I find it perfect for a full week of exploring. Walk or bus into York and take in the sites. I would not take my car into York other than for the supermarket or 'Go Outdoors' which are free and easy to reach. The 843 bus or the Park and ride bus are much more convenient and less stressful. Better still walk it.
