York Beechwood Grange Club Campsite
Staff were so welcoming and cheerful. Offered to help with anything and gave information about facilities, pitch, etc.
Good sized pitches and nicely laid out.
Lovely, clean facilities. Underfloor heating in shower. Excellent accessibility for disabled people although door can be opened by another person with Radar key even when handle is up inside (although staff have put notice up telling people to check if lock shows as engaged before using key - someone ignored it and opened the door while I was using facilities)
Old red telephone box near entrance is used as a book exchange which is a lovely idea. There's also a lovely shed which has information inside, including tear off directions f got Park and Ride and to the bus stop.
Toby Carvery is on other side of the roundabout. Lots of shops nearby.
Only negative was the traffic noise from main road, however this was in winter when the trees were bare. Noise will be much less I would think in spring and summer.
Nice site, dog owners please read the conditions!
Stayed here for two nights and have to say the wardens were nice and friendly, the site is immaculate and couldn’t fault it in anyway..
Two things of note tho for visitors;
1- due to the location and access it’s not possible to walk off the site with a dog
2- the park and ride is a little further away that suggested! 25-30 minute walk along a busy main road with no pavement.
One other slight annoyance we had which is nothing to do with the site but, if you have a dog and get the taxi firm they recommend to take you into York please make sure that they have cars available who take dogs for the return journey! We got stranded in York with the dog as the Taxi firm couldn’t send a car to collect us in the early evening as they said they didn’t have any cars on shift that would take a dog....eventually managed to get a local taxi driver to take us back to the site!
Lovely site.
4 of us stayed here 2 weeks before Christmas. This must be the cleanest, well kept site we've ever stayed at. I even commented to the cleaning staff about how well they did there job keeping the toilet and shower block clean. They were emaculate.
Site was very level, peaceful and easily accessible. We'll definitely be back.

Beware dog owners
What a beautiful site! Facilities were the newest and therefore the nicest I have seen on the network, lovely and clean. The site itself felt very spacious with big level pitches. The staff were really pleasant and friendly. We got a taxi into York and it was a flat £10 fee with the taxi arriving within 10 mins of booking it. The site itself looks like it used to belong to the nearby stud farm and you have to drive through two pastures to reach it. This was lovely, but it means that you cannot walk your dog off the site. There are signs indicating this and I witnessed the warden having to run after some campers walking their dog off the site past the signs to bring them back, but unfortunately some dog owners think that they are above some rules. There is a big field on site where you can exercise your dog so I can’t see this being an issue.

Exactly what we needed
Only stayed for an overnight break on the way to Scotland, but really impressed. A friendly welcome, despite being a late arrival, and a huge pitch that gave us loads of room to set up without too much effort at all.
I was a little concerned about possible noise as a couple of planes flew close overhead within 5 minutes of arrival, but actually didnt hear any others, so not a problem at all.
Excellent shower and toilet facilities. A lovely warm building that is modern, clean and spacious with lots of hot water - exactly what I wanted on a cold December morning. Very well kept site, and the nice little hedges between pitches ensured enough privacy.
Very easy access from the main roads, although quite a long way out from the city which wouldnt be as suitable for some people. For us it was ideal.
fantastic site like my 2nd home
just love this site every time i go it just feels like i have came home , great clean friendly ,what more can you ask for
Superb Staff
I have previously reviewed this site. The staff are always helpful and the site is maintained to the highest possible standards. Grounds neat and the blocks are spotless. The site is convenient for access to York via 1) car or walk to Park and ride, then bus to York Centre 2) the CAS bus (near to the Toby Inn) or the 840/843 bus via Stockton Lane, or 3) the walk via Millennium Way and Bad Bargain Lane (details in the information hut).
During my visit I put the system to the test. I was due to leave on Monday 29th. On Sunday 28th I had a fall on ice, resulting in a visit to A&E (Via the ambulance) and an admission with a serious head injury. I did not get out until 1st December and then was unable to drive. My caravan and car were recovered in the 3rd December via MAYDAY. The staff looked after my car and caravan whilst I was in Hospital. They were also extremely supportive and helpful on my return.
An incident such as this shows the true humanity and helpfulness of staff. They were superb. They all went the extra mile.
I will be back in 3 weeks (providing the medical profession allow me to drive by then).
Maiden voyage
First time away in our new to us van and probably couldn’t have picked a better site. Keith the warden met us with a friendly greeting and on explaining it was our first time guided us to a very easily accessible pitch very close to the facilities.
The pitch was perfectly level and very easy to access. The washrooms and showers were spotlessly clean and the showers piping hot and the site itself immaculate.
The area is beautiful just now ditch the surrounding trees in their autumn colours. Thank you Beechwood Grange we will be sure to return.
Another fantastic weekend
We have been to Beechwood many times before and like the site for its location offering many options for activities while there, including York, Monks Cross and the East Coast if you want to travel a little further.
Our arrival at the site was met by the wardens who took the trouble of looking up the registration of the car and greeted us by name so immediately made us feel welcome. The site itself was immaculate, well maintained, clean with grassed areas, although not in use, well cut and looked after.
As with most sites where families go there was a certain amount of noise from children playing to dogs barking and people generally enjoying themselves escaping life for however long they are away, especially during these current challenging times.
Many thanks to to the wardens for making us feel welcome and relaxed from the minute we arrived to when we left after 2 very short days,
Marathon weekend stay
A lovely quiet place to stay and use as a base for competing in the York Marathon. Very friendly staff and lovely hot showers in the modern facility block. The staff welcomed my family as visitors to the site to support me during my marathon run. Easy to book in and didn't pay for them until they arrived.
We intend to return to visit the sites of York in a more leisurely fashion!
