Good for families

This is not like a normal club site.

I went to the site with an open mind, having read other negative reviews. I am not one to be influenced by other opinions. I had difficulty in booking the appropriate pitch and saw straight away something was just not right with the site on arrival. There were several business type vehicles such as vans and pickups which were being used by workers. Not that there is anything wrong with this but from 0645am on my first morning until just after 8am at least 8 of these vehicles left with the associated unsocial banging of doors and revving of engines. These residents returned at the end of the working day. As there are only 50 pitches on site that meant almost one fifth of the pitches were being used for business and not leisure which is what would you might expect from a club site. The weather during my stay was quite reasonable which meant the nearby airfield was very active with helicopter training traffic. I personally do not mind aircraft noise as I am a pilot, but I did not expect to have my van filled with the smell of jet A1 exhaust from a large commercial Dauphin helicopter that was doing engine runs after maintenance for more than an hour. That is how close the airfield is.The site itself is well maintained and the wardens are doing an excellent job of keeping it clean. I cannot recommend this site due to the noise aspect. This is not your usual cub site. It is obvious it is being use as alternative accommodation for workers in and around London during the week.
