Great location for visits to Wirral and Liverpool

Access to the site is very easy, but the speed bumps on the approach road referred to in the site information are very sharp indeed, and not all of them easily visisble. Reception staff were friendly and took time to help us with bus timetables and internet access. The vast majority of people on the site when we stayed had (sometimes multiple) dogs, and not all of them respected the dogs-on-leads rule, unfortunately. Toilet block faciliies are good, but not the most modern on the network. Shower cubicles are a bit tight and water pressure adequate rather than generous. As very often the case on sites in the UK, toilet etiquettee is not always observed - finding a clean WC is a bit of a lottery. Maybe many caravanners have a toilet fairy at home! The site layout is less car-park like than some sites which is a positive feature, and the views over the estuary gorgeous. Walking and cycling from the site is brilliant and un-challenging, and it is very worthwhile walking in-land away from the coastal path to find beautiful scenery and views. We did the walk to Hiber (?) islands on a beautiful sunny day, a very peasant outing and not strenuous, but a bit wet under foot. To get to Liverpool by public transport there are several options, but we used the 471 (free wifi) from Heswall, parking in the carpark next to Aldi. The route terminates near the World Museum, where the Terracotta Warriers exhibition isshowing until October. Advance booking recommended. Port Sunlight, is a worthwhile visit - retrace your route back to M53 jct 4 rather than following (as we did) a very wierd sat-nav route. After the visit we drove to Woodside Mersey Ferry terminal and did the Mersey cruise - enjoyable. We ate one evening at the Cottage Loaf at the end of Station Road. It was ok, serving the usual pub food. There is a special lower price menu which was good - same food, slightly smaller portions.
