Good for families

Good location but not a place for a quiet break in school hols!

Have just spent 4 nights here' . The site is easily accessed and is very convenient for visits to both Liverpool and Chester. There are good walks from the site and it is easy to get to the beach on the estuary. Some pitches have a splendid view across the estuary. Local people were very friendly and helpful. We were offered advice re our trip to Liverpool by someone at the rspb centre ( burton mere certainly worth a visit) and also by someone in Chester. Buy a save away ticket for £5.20 return which gives you train travel as well as Mersey ferry, so can go by train and return by ferry and train or vice versa . Parking is free and plentiful at hoy lake station. It's a great pity that such advice wasn't forthcoming from the site wardens who, whilst not unpleasant, seemed uninterested in communicating with visitors. Half term wa not a good choice for a visit as the site was besieged with children tearing around on bikes and scooters. I felt particularly sorry for people pitched on 51 who had a constant stream of kids on bikes and people cutting through their pitch to the toilet block . The wardens are aware that this is a problem but seem unwilling to do anything about it. This would be an excellent site to visit out of school hols, particularly with wardens with more enthusiasm for their job and a friendlier rapport with their customers! I understand that being a warden is not an easy job but there are so many really good ones out there who take a pride in their site and go out of their way to help folk enjoy their holidays.
