Super site, super area.
Having spent 11 days here in August, we could not wait to get back for another 4 in October. Site is ideal for visiting Ifracombe, Barnstaple and other towns and villages. Having a large motorhome we relied on busses for longer distances. There is a gate alongside the site giving access to the Tarka Trail which is about 4 miles to Ilfracombe on a disused rail line on a downward sloping metalled road. However, the return walk or bike ride is challenging so the bus from Ilfracombe is very welcome. Close by is another walk across the fields to Mortehoe, a delightful village, then to Woolacombe and a bus stop!. A walking map is available from Reception. The site stocks the essentials (milk, bread etc.) during the summer. Choosing a pitch can be interesting. Located fairly close to the sea, the prevailing wind can be a trial, exacerbated by the height above sea level.
Overall, the site is excellent, the wardens a delight, knowledgeable, friendly and justifiably proud of Willingcott.
