Good for families

Not great for kids - but a nice site

We visited this site for 5 nights recently and we were extremely pleased with the upkeep, cleanliness and facilities on offer – probably one of the best we’ve been to. The location is great too albeit a little windy due to its proximity to the coast but this is to be expected. Sadly our trip was marred by the rather arrogant and unfriendly nature of the site warden. Not only were we spoken to extremely rudely because we were a couple of hours later than anticipated arriving due to traffic congestion, when trying to explain we had the phone hung up on us which didn’t create the right mindset from the off. Moreover we were concerned about the attitude towards children playing. Being the school holidays and a site that says its family friendly we found our children being told not to play with balls, and when we heard other children complaining they were being told they were too noisy and to slow down created an atmosphere of children should be seen and not heard. Our children ending up feeling a little on edge as they were unsure of what they could and couldn’t do. With the above in mind if you’re a couple looking for a quiet, well maintained site in a great location then this is for you. If however you have a family where you want your kids to kick a ball, run and play, we would not recommend this site. On a positive note the area is beautiful, as are the local people, we had some great days out and thoroughly enjoyed our time away from the site – we would definitely venture down to Devon again but be more mindful in choosing a more family orientated campsite. Enjoy your trip wherever you go!
