Autumn visit to Wharfedale site

We spent four nights at this site. The weekend was fully booked (as we expected) but the weekdays quieter. It is a beautiful and neat site and a pleasure to walk around. The amenities block was super (newly refurbed I think). Our dog enjoyed the circular walk in the morning - just look out for sheep so you know when to put the dog on the lead. We tried the pub 'Gamekeeper' on the nearby leisure park, it was great, we were able to take our dog with us into the bar area. We did not try the leisure/fitness facility. I had thought we would be able to walk in the evening into Grassington to go to a pub etc, but with the narrow road in the dark this is not advisable, but Grassington is an easy cycle ride away. A recommended walk is from Grassington NT car park, via the Linton Falls, along the Wharfe bank, to Hebden, where you can visit the Old School Tea Rooms for cake etc! The 'supermarket' shop at the Threshfield garage is very good, including a proper butchers counter (this seems to be what Spar are doing in the region). We did have major mobile issues for miles around - but we use Three which is quite urban I think! Most important - do heed the routing instructions in the manual!!
