Wonderful Warwick
We spent three nights here at Warwick Racecourse.
The site: for visiting the town, location could not be better, as the racecourse is just off the town centre. That said, it is located in a little oasis of calm within the racetrack, gving a reassuringly safe feel to the stay. Sainsburys is a 6 minute walk alongside the track.
The facilities: the racecourse loses a star due to dated facilities that are in need of upgrade. Stephanie reports that her breath is warmer than the single, intermittent hand-dryer.
The town: it is evident why Warwick is considered such a prize, with superb Tudor and medieval architecture, and a modest but ample range of shopping.
The highlight: take a walk down Mill Street to the Mill Garden, a delight owned and managed by David and his wife bordering the river Avon; arguably our best-spent treat.
Walking: Stephanie and I walked up to the Saltisford Canal Centre and then took the tow path through dozens of working locks to take coffee and cake at Hatton Locks Cafe.
