Troutbeck Head Club Campsite in Penrith is set in classically beautiful north Lake District countryside, and is conveniently only 4 miles from the restaurants and shops of Ullswater. A fabulous getaway for nature lovers and walkers, the campsite nestles in a picturesque valley alongside a babbling brook.
Situated 10 miles from Keswick and below the Great Mell Fell, the site has spectacular views of Blencathra to the west and provides access to some of the prettiest walks in the country. For superb views of the central mountains, a drive over the dramatic Kirkstone Pass is not to be missed. This will lead you to Windermere, Ambleside and Grasmere, where you can sample the local restaurants and explore some of Wordsworth's favourite haunts. A lake cruise on Ullswater is a must, with the option of a scenic walk between Howtown and Glenridding (only 7 miles away). For the energetic, the Rookin House Farm Centre next door to the caravan site offers plenty of fun activities - quad bikes, archery, go-karting, clay pigeon shooting, horse riding and much more.
The site provides easy access to numerous lakes, mountains, valleys & rivers, whilst pretty villages, country pubs and farm shops are plentiful, making Troutbeck the ideal destination for exploring and relaxing in the Cumbrian countryside.

Campsite is very well located, just off the A66 but far enough from the road to be peaceful. Very helpful wardens made us welcome on arrival. Excellent clean facilities. Our kids enjoyed the playground on site. Easy to drive to visit many areas of the North Lakes. We hope to return soon.

Just home from 8 nights at Troutbeck Head. The site is beautifully kept, all facilities are immaculate. Having two shower blocks, twice the cleaning of course but great for members, especially in the mornings for those who’ve treated themselves to a holiday lie in! Love Troutbeck and will go back because of its location, convenience etc. Great sized pitches. It can be noisy on one side. Generally in good condition and clean and tidy. But.... I am sorry I do not understand why they removed the few things in the shop especially in such a rural area... Show more

We think this site is fantastic location very clean and tidy staff very friendly good sized pitches couldn't ask for more. Apart from a shop , you literally can't buy anything, that's the only thing letting it down. But would definitely recommend it to others and we will return some day.
