Good for families

Perhaps not as quiet as previous visits, but still my favourite site

This site is in a great position and the views from most of the pitches are simply stunning. It is a very busy site with lots of comings & goings and, unique to this site, a lot of existing campers moving to better slots when they become available. The main facilities are good and are cleaned to a high standard but the second toilet block (portacabin) is not so nice. To be fair to the Club, they can't get the planning permission for a permanent second block & so this is what they offer, better than nothing. The wardens are what you need on a site like this, friendly, efficient, helpful and thoroughly nice people. Their shop is well stocked and not over-priced and sells a range of local foods (which can also be be pre-ordered). The driveway down to the site could be trimmed back a bit, it doesn't seem to be as tidy as previous years and the speed of cars around the site is far too high. You should be aware of how bad the weather can get here, even in the summer. Other reviews, for the same period we stayed, have told of losing an awning. This is not uncommon and happens regularly (on my first year there, about 50 pole awnings were irreparably damaged in the week prior to my July arrival). This year, we had to contend with winds gusting to 45mph but our vango with storm straps stayed rock solid. On more exposed pitches (such as the upper field), you might lose your awning.. most pole awnings were taken down prior to the storm arrival this time. Wider afield, Tintagel itself is getting a bit crowded, for which we should all share some 'blame' and the roads are getting quite busy in and out of the village. But then there's the views and when the sun shines, I can think of no better place to be.
