Beautiful site

This site is one of those where you could stay without leaving the site. The views are magnificent and the wildlife is superb. Of course, good weather helps and the wind can be a problem. We have seen too many awnings destroyed here and would never consider using one ourselves. This time we sat outside the caravan and watched a family of peregrine falcons as they practised stooping on the local seagull population. The falcons nest on a point just to the north of the site but within view. People pitched on the top field were in danger of being struck as they swooped across the field. In the past we have seen basking sharks, porpoises and feeding gannets all from the comfort of our chairs outside the caravan. The walks to Boscastle (North) and Tintagel (South) are not large distances, but both involve some fairly strenuous climbs (typical of the South-west Coast path). It is a pity that the bus service from the top of the site is no longer an hourly service as it makes planning bus trips further afield more difficult. The only missing star from my ratings is because families will have quite a drive to reach a safe beach (Crackington Haven or Bude to the north; Polzeath to the south). The nearest beach, Bossiney Cove, (visible from the site) has no lifeguards and is a hard walk for children since it involves going down AND UP Rocky Valley adjacent to the site. The facilities on the site are excellent and the wardens are very friendly ang helpful. It is a long journey from our home in Suffolk to Trewethett, but one we hope to make again.
