Good for families

Pity about the surroundings.

Stayed for a week in Aug 2016, terrific staff and beautifully kept grounds/facilities. The whole place is let down by the background noise which is unbearable, the locals from the nearby huge Duffryn estate (Google it and count the burnt out cars/trolleys in the river/smashed bottles...) love their noisy motorcycles. This attracts plenty of sirens as if you are in a riot. The background noise of the M4 is nothing by comparison, if you try it sounds a bit like the seashore.....honest it does,. I would return but only overnight if we were going that way again. We cycled the advertised 14 locks route, the start is a bit dodgy- do not go alone! (that estate again) but the next 5 miles are good. Rather than coming back the same way follow the heritage trail back without going over the same ground. (10 Miles total instead of 14). We also did the 4 waterfalls trek, well worth the effort- and it is a bit of effort. Cardiff pool also very good if you want a good leisure pool for children.
