Lovely Site
Stopped off at Tredegar House for 3 days on way to West Country as wanted to go to Cardiff Bay that we had heard was worth a visit now that it's been redeveloped. Good location and easy to find although the final yards up to the entrance are narrow and suggest that the CC makes it arrivals after 1.00pm to avoid the queue up the barrier. We arrived 20 mins early as the roads were quiet and there were several outfits in front of us stopped before the barrier that we didn't see until we were in the narrow entrance road and this made it difficult for people leaving the site close to the 12.00 deadline and blocked the entrance to the visitors carpark.
Some noise can be heard from the M4 motorway but this is to be expected due to the site location.
The site is kept in great condition by the wardens and the toilets blocks were always up to the usual CC standards.
The grounds at Tredegar House are superb for walking around, especially if you have a dog and the cafe is well worth stopping at during your walk.
The Bristol Channel is only approx. 3 miles away and you can park in the Lighthouse Inn car park, (for a small charge), to walk down the footpath above the beach.
If you decide to visit Cardiff Bay and follow the signs from the M4 motorway it's a big diversion as the approach is from the west. Although the road is almost all dual carriageway off the motorway, it's probably better to put up with some traffic and queues and take the direct route in from the east.
This was our first visit to Tredegar House and we will certainly visit again, probably on the way to South Wales.
