Honest and Objective Review - I hope!

Tredegar House is easy to find just off the M4 J28. It sits in adjacent to huge grounds ideal for walking, dog walking and cycling. The site is on two levels and it’s a short but steep incline from the lower level to the toilet block. There is road noise especially at peak times but the website does tell you about this. We stayed on pitch 68 on the lower level. TV reception was excellent and the 3G signal was three bars. I didnt notice it was next to the camping area. There was a tent pitch arrival after we had set up. All was well until the campers went in and out of the site four times between 10pm and midnight with lots of car door banging on departure and return. They were also peeing in the bushes. I told the wardens the next day and the campers were gone sooon after. I have nothing against campers but all site users should show basic standards of behaviour and consideration for others. To be on the safe side I will be using the low number pitches 1 to 20 away from the camping area next time we visit. There’s an ASDA and a McDonalds within walking distance-ish. If you’re buying supplies I’d take the car. We took a taxi for £6 from the site entrance to Newport train station. It cost about £8 for 2 x day returns to Cardiff where we spent a great day seeing the sights, shopping and visiting lovely cafes. Tredegar House was covered by sheeting and we decided against going inside. There’s lots of shops and a couple of cafes in the grounds. The ornamental Lake is a delight to walk around and great for dog walking. This is a popular site with dog walkers so if you’re not a doggy person you might want to book elsewhere. Overall, I’m glad I wasn’t put off by some of the more negative reviews. We had a great time and enjoyed it enough to go back in the future.
