Good for families

Great for location

I stayed here to visit family in the area. It was really easy to find and the route in was simple. I was given a very friendly welcome which was much appreciated after a long journey. The wardens had just been dealing with a customer who was making a complaint and I observed them to be very professional in the face of a very difficult situation. The site is within the grounds of a National Trust property which means that at 8.00pm the gates are locked by them (there's a padlock to which you are given a key when you check in). The lovely thing about that is after 8pm you can still walk in the grounds and there's plenty of room for kids and pets; the more tricky thing is that it's a bit of a pain going in and out at night as there's the padlocked gate and the electronic site barrier to get through - at least you know you and your outfit are secure overnight! The facilities block was clean and I noted .the sign saying that it is soon to be updated. It's worth noting that there's a big Asda very close to the site so easy to stock up on provisions. There's also lots of lovely shops in Newport itself so it's well worth the short trip there. Sadly I didn't have time to go to Tredegar House itself - hopefully next time!
