Good for families

convenient and spacious

Stayed for 3 nights in order to be close to Cardiff - perfect in this regard. Site clean and well tended. Lots of space and pitches roomy and pleasant. The site itself is very peaceful and the close proximity of the open parkland is a real bonus for families and dog owners. Bacon roll in the NT cafe at 10 am was a great way to start our first day before wandering around the excellent NT house. Shower block is perfectly fine - tired around the edges but very clean and I disagree with some of the more scathing reviews of this. Easy to access the site and wardens great. ASDA 24 hour superstore just round the corner for provisions but we wouldn't recommend the Dragonfly pub - staff were rude about customers behind their backs and our roast was leathery and tepid. Didn't see anywhere else to stop for a meal nearby. Our TV reception at the site was perfect. A few downsides to the site. Firstly road noise from the M4 and A48 which is constant in the background. Not so good in nice weather if you want windows open all night. Road noise to be expected with the location and we actually found a site in the Cotswolds much worse than this, so no need to necessarily be put off. We live in a rural area so might be more sensitive to road noise than others. WiFi was terrible, which was a particular problem for us as we work every day for a couple of hours whilst we travel - we run our own business and websites were so slow to respond that I made cup of tea waiting for pages to open - in the end we gave up totally and went to find a cafe. We were better off using the weak 4G on our phones than using the site wifi.
