our stay at treamble valley

We arrived on Sunday September 6th for 14 nights,On arrival the lady on the desk was obviously having a bad day,we requested to stay in the small van site which we had stayed in the previous year because one of us is disabled and this site is near the toilets, she told us abruptly that our van was to big for this area and anyway its full !. We asked for grass pitch as i find this easier to set up,she was very reluctant to give us a grass pitch she said due to the softness of the ground,we found on inspection the ground wasn't that soft at all,she also said they had a no pulling off policy in the event of us getting bogged down, which we found unusual . so as you can imagine it was not a good start to our stay. Over the course of our stay it seems we were not the only people she was abrupt with, on passing an old couple near the office they said we hope you re not going in to see that blonde woman ,they said they had been with the caravan club for 35 years and had never met anyone so abrasive .My husband had been a member of the caravan club for many years and never made a review but felt on this occasion he had to say something such a shame its on a negative .

Comment from The Club:

Many thanks for leaving a review. The wardens have been in touch as they wish to address your concerns. Firstly, the site staff always do their utmost to help members and give them a warm welcome. In this instance there had been extremely bad weather and due to the high volume of rain, the wardens had to pitch all motorhomes on hardstanding pitches to prevent them from getting stuck in the mud. The area you wished to pitch was on grass and was also only suitable for smaller ‘vans. Unfortunately your motorhome was too large for the pitch. The wardens wanted to do their utmost to assist you however, and as such, took the time to show you the pitching area on the lawn. The pitches here are closer to the road so less chance of getting stuck and easier to assist if you do find yourself in difficulty. As you declined this area, the only other alternative was on hardstanding pitches. Please note for future reference, to advise wardens of any disability so that they can do their utmost to help and reserve a pitch close to facilities. As you can see from other reviews, the wardens receive praise for their hard work and always try to be as helpful and as a friendly as possible, so we are sorry that you did not feel this was the case.

Autumn Touring

We had heavy rain on two nights and had puddles on our ground sheet - there were insufficient hard standings unfortunately. And our pitch was a very long way from the toilet facilities - too far for oldies!! The access was also a little difficult but acceptable. Good dog walking facilities, helpful wardens and pleasant surroundings mitigated the above problems.

good job it didnt rain!!

We chose a hardstanding due to the bad summer weather. We had fantastic weather until 2 days before we came home, unfortunately our hardstanding became waterlogged from 12hours of rain, goodness knows what it would be like with continuous rain. Very disappointing end to holiday. Site is in a lovely setting, fab dog walks and very clean showers. Disappointed with shop unable to order/buy a paper had to drive everyday to the Londis in Goonhavern. steep walk to get mobile signal and wifi kept buffering.   Easy access to Perranporth and Newquay where there is every supermarket you could want. We had a lovely holiday but feel it could have been different if it had rained.

Unhappy with pitch

We recently stayed on this site for 2 nights having stayed on this site previously, our first experience was fine however on our second visit I was left a little disappointed. We booked a standard pitch with awning, when we arrived in the evening the weather wasn't great, we had a choice of 2 pitches, one a hard standing which was a side on pitch, the other a grass pitch, due to the weather and the fact we have a motorhome we had to take the hard standing pitch, so we had to park side on against hedging/ trees, there was no nearby power supply so in the end I had to reverse the motorhome as far back as I could and run a cable around a nearby caravan and awning to be able to plug in, we have a 25m cable and this was only just long enough, we didn't have the option of pulling out our awning because of our parking position but were still charged full price, I don't know what the necessity is on some of these CC sites to cram so many pitches into a site but I don't think it's fair on some of us members, less is sometimes more

Peace and quiet in lovely countryside

Great base for exploring this area of Cornwall. Equal distance to St Ives, Padstow and Eden project. Friendly staff.Lots of walks from the site. Steep walk to the site entrance to get a phone signal if you need it. Wifi strength no problem. Enjoyed fish and chips from the mobile van that visited and great meal at Smugglers Den pub about 20 mins walk away. We will visit again.

Fantastic

back from a three week stay. As always the site and facilities were immaculate. The wardens were as usual helpful, friendly, accommodating and were always seen with a smile on their faces, even whilst going about there routines in the heavy rain. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Did have some problems with the wifi, but not a great problem, will be back next year.

Wet holiday @Treamble

Just returned after two wet weeks here. When we arrived the only 3 pitches available was in the bottom field ( there's a clue there, as to where this is going) however mud aside well kept site, great wardens, approach to the site not the easiest and in parts narrow thank god we didn't meet anything on the way in or out. Only one amenity block so used all own facilities first week and of course what can you do in Cornwall in the rain other than stiff upper lip! Few pointers to make people's stay better, could do with better information facilities, make sure dog owners pick up after themselves ( two sets of dog owners on our field, you don't need to be Ms Marple do you) please don't charge £25 for TV extender cable when they're £6-7 quid at Argos,  and finally when better ( drier) pitches become available it might be an idea to offer it to the ones deepest in the mud, or have the longest left to stay, I know it's not easy and you can't please everyone but just a little tlc or an offer of help goes a long way, nice enough site overall though.

Our Summer Holiday

We stayed at this site from 12/07/15 for 15 nights with the good weather made it a lovely holiday. The site is located in a beautiful place with clean facilities as you would expect from a CC site.   It was a perfect base for exploring Cornwall and would definitely stay again.
