This is a great site for nature lovers as it is set in the forest it's self, I was lucky enough to see my first nightjar in an area less than a couple of hundred metres from the van, great. There is a flooded gravel pit nature reserve and arboretum at Lynford Hall just down the road that can be walked to from the site through the woods, which even has a small beach for the kids. The gunfire from the firing range on the other side of the main road is a bit off putting but not a problem. If you like to feed the birds make sure you take a feeder that is squirrel proof or you will be asked to stop, they do not want to attract them to the site as they have caused problems in the past.
