What a gem
This is the first time we have been to this site and it will not be the last.
Yes the road from Pickering can be a little narrow, especially with a large outfit like ours, yes there are no facilities on site apart from fresh water, waste disposal and hook-up, but what a location.
No mobile signal means a weekend away from work and if you really need to you can log into the free Wi-Fi and check your emails.
The site can only be described as immaculate, grass pitches that looked more like bowling greens, all hardstanding pitches edged and clearly marked.....and wide enough to take the entire outfit.
We were lucky with the weather and I can see that when wet the grass pitches may cause a problem but if you site your van so your towing vehicle wheels stay on the roadway then there shouldn't be an issue.
The Coach House Inn over the road offers good value meals, excellent ale and free WIFI.
Staff on site were there if needed, and were always happy and cheerful. With the removal of the bins from the service points to a central location means you don't see site staff driving up and down as much, which in turn reduces the amount of noise on the site, however. The site is next to a busy main road and through the day this can get busy and noisy, especially with the tractors.
The village has a couple of tea rooms which offer snacks and ice creams...had to be checked out and tested.
This is not a family friendly site and I would advise anyone with a family that do not want to walk/cycle/explore the local beauty then this is not the site for you, if however you want a weekend away in the country just go for it.
