Lovely site marred by barking dogs...

We had a great week on the site - peaceful, very helpful wardens, immaculate pitches, great walks with pubs and tea-rooms in the village. And then came the weekend. I've never seen so many dogs on a site - owners with 3, 4 and even 5 dogs on a pitch! If they were seen but not heard we wouldn't have minded so much, but there were dogs barking, and some aggressive animals that loudly objected when people walked past their pitches. The Club needs to tighten up its liberal approach to dog owners. Why is it okay to charge for children, but not for dogs? And they should be limited in number as they are on many affiliated sites. I would recommend The Howard - but not on a weekend...

Comment from the Club:

Many thanks for your review and we are delighted you enjoyed the site and found our wardens helpful. Please note that any operational concerns can be raised with us as either feedback or a complaint for formal review by contacting the Club directly. As such please can you email UKSitesBookingService@camc.com and a member of the team will be able to investigate. Many thanks.

I 'll be there sometime next week so will observe over the weekend I'm there. I do agree with your remark about the club's liberal approach to dogs. They have even decided now to offer a star (Paw) rating for parks suitable dogs.

There are numerous touring sites in all parts of the both UK and over the channel that are best, if possible, avoided at week endswinksurprised

Would say exactly the same about Brockenhurst in the New Forest earlier this week. Lovely site ....

Whilst barking dogs are undoubtedly very annoying if one is on site all day (as with other extraneous noises), I'm tempted to second the advice given on a recent complaint about loud music at Exeter Racecourse and say that if you are that irritated by it then maybe you are in the wrong hobby! wink

Harry, if there is a problem with barking dogs, I really hope you take the time to discuss it with the warden.

I did discuss it with one of the wardens. The problem was it was different dogs at different times. My point is, limit dogs to two, charge for them, as they do on CC affiliated sites, then dog lovers can still bring some of their dogs, and a re-balance has been struck which should please most members...

Not all affiliated sites charge for dogs.

I know what your points are as you’ve made them clear but stating them here will not change club policy. At the end of the day, economics will win and many people give their business to CAMC because it is dog friendly.

As for pleasing most members, I think that is a sweeping assumption.
