The Peak District and Derbyshire Dales are excellent for keen walker. There's a 6 mile walk through ‘Strutt Country’ with splendid views of the valley, and a circular 4 or 6 mile walk from Heage remembering the Pentrich Revolution. Information on local routes is available in reception.

Please only use these recommended directions for the final approach and not sat nav, due to unsuitable roads for towing. From North: leave the M1 at junction 28 onto A38 dual carriageway (signposted Derby). In 5.75 miles turn onto A610 (signposted Ambergate); in about 3 miles at T-junction turn left onto A6 (signposted Belper). Within 3 miles at Morrison's roudnabout in Belper turn and return onto A6 (signposted A6 Matlock); in about 1 mile turn right into Broadholme Lane (signposted Nether Heage); in about 1 mile at T-junction turn left into Crich Lane. The site is on the left in 500 yards. From South: leave M1 at junction 24 onto A50. In about 11 miles turn onto A38 (signposted Derby); in about 5 miles turn left onto A6 (signposted Matlock); continue on the A6 through Belper; at A517 junction bear right on the A6, then as above.

Short visit but now planning to return.

We were just passing through on our way further north. We were very pleasantly surprised by the beauty of the location. The picnic tables were a good place to have morning coffee and to soak in the scenery. Very relaxing and clean campsite. Friendly staff too.
