Peaceful stay in a great location

This site has become our new favourite! We received a friendly and helpful welcome on arrival and the wardens continued to deliver great, hospitable service throughout our stay. We had a serviced pitch on the lower level - this was very peaceful which suited us. We could just glimpse a view through the trees which was also a bonus. The best part for us though was the amazing view from the picnic benches! We all took a few mindful moments throughout our stay to sit quietly and admire the Derwent Valley. Belper has a lovely high street with a good variety of shops - including some independent ones. Top tip: The car spares shop at the top of King Street has some caravan supplies if the site shop doesn't have what you need! There is a real sense of community in Belper - all the shops were decorated for Belper Pride and were displaying work by local artists for the Arts Festival. We ate out at The Spanker in Crich which had good vegetarian and vegan options and had a great value roast at The Lion Hotel. The site is well located for visiting lots of attractions and we ran out of time before we could visit everything during our 6 night stay! We will definitely be back!

Lovely peaceful site

The wardens were very helpful from the moment we arrived, letting us know which pitches were still available and helping us to park up when we found a suitable spot. They advised us of the best places to eat in the area and supplied us with the name of a good taxi service. The site is well kept, with level pitches and the shower block is spotlessly clean. The showers are fully adjustable, with separate controls for temperature and flow - no nasty push buttons here! Each cubicle has a separate drying area with a bench seat and plenty of hooks - perfect. We found the site to be very peaceful, with no road noise on the bottom section. The views over the Derwent Valley as we walked up to the toilet block were spectacular - unfortunately there is a screen of trees which blocks the view from the pitches, but which also probably blocks any noise. This is a lovely site, which is a good base for exploring the Derbyshire Dales, with Crich, Matlock etc within a few minutes' drive.

Perfect location

Fourth time visiting this site - beautiful setting, ideal location and just the right sized site. Very quiet and nice pitches. The Wardens Perry and Anne-Marie are very friendly and have given the site the homely touch. We can't fault the site or wardens at all. 10/10 We have been caravanning for over 20 years and this is site and the wardens are one of the very best!

Great site but beware

This site is in an absolutely beautiful area of Derbyshire and near the lovely town of Belper. The wardens, I'm sure, must be very proud of how they keep the site in immaculate condition and the toilet/shower/laundry block wher extremely clean as well. Be aware that there is at least 1 pitch (58) where the standard 15 metre mains hose does not reach your unit if it is placed as per required. We purchased a second hose one which enabled water to reach the Aquaroll. Our only gripe was the ÂŁ11 per week wi-fi charge that could only be used on 1 item. 2 computers and 2 phones would have been a charge of a staggering ÂŁ44! ÂŁ11 may have been worth it had the 'gold' service been reliable but unfortunately streaming was hit and miss at times. However, overall a 5 star site thanks to the wardens running it.

Just perfect!

We arrived at the firs to be greeted by Marie- she was fantastic! So happy and friendly with a huge smile! We had a serviced pitch just behind the toilet block and it was perfect! (No light pollution at all as previously mentioned) The site is immaculate- grass kept perfect! Toilets and showers were spotless! Marie and Terry could not have been more helpful- they gave us lots of ideas of places to go. We were travelling onto blackshaw moor after for a further 3 days and she wrote us a list of recommendations and places to visit! She has made our trip as we didn’t know anything about the area. This is the best site we have visited and definitely has the best wardens we have met! Thank you x

Very Cramped Service Pitches?

This site is in an excellent location and extremely well maintained by the wardens, there is no play area so quite limited for children. You get road and rail noise whilst on site, trains starting some days at 3am? The main problem for me is the service pitches at the top part of the site, you pay a premium and they are cramped and alot behind the toilet block making them very noisey and alot of light pollution at night. The standard pitches are larger with more space around and in better locations so book one of them and not a service pitch because they are not good value for money on this site. Other than that it is a great site with some lovely scenery.

Beautiful Site

Stayed bank holiday weekend the staff were so friendly and upon arrival gave plenty of information of local walks, pubs and takeaways that delivered to site. The facilities were lovely and clean and the grass areas were continuously maintained all weekend. The site is in a lovely location with stunning views I will definitely return.

Beautiful Site

Stayed for the first time on Bank Holiday This site is really beautiful , we stayed on a pitch recommended by the wardens and it had gorgeous views and tucked away at the end of the site. Great facilities too on site all spotlessly clean. We took our Labrador puppy for the first trip out and the dog walk is beautifully maintained as is the rest of the camp. The wardens on this camp are really lovely and friendly and just stop and have a chat as they go along. Really lovely peaceful weekend in a beautiful position, we will certainly book this site again.

Saved our holiday, the most amazing site possible

Well, this site saved our holiday in more ways than one. It was a last minute booking as we called and arrived within the hour, from the very second we arrived on site, the Wardens where so helpful, friendly and went above and beyond. The location was stunning, the views out of this world, so peaceful and watching the little Robin popping along the fence was so relaxing. The site facilities where spotless, and even when the cleaning was in progress, there was other facilities to use, again an extra bonus. There is also a well stocked information room, with loads of various walks, cycle paths etc, starting on the roads, but soon you are in the woods and following the maps into belpher. As we travel with a deaf dog, it is so rare to be able to let him run off lead.... well another bonus was the run for him, so the two dogs ran together... he is still recovering and sulked on coming home. so a massive thank you to the site and club for our wonderful holiday and we will be returning again soon.
