This was my very first time in my new to me campervan and my first time at a club site.
The site was so clean, with lovely facilities and a nice dog walking area.
The wardens couldn’t have been nicer. They really made my first trip away a good one. Thank you
Great base for the Peak District
Really nice campsite with facilities kept to the highest standard.
You have the usual UK campsite bewildering array of finger wagging rules that make you think of strait jackets but you forget them once you set up
The campsite would benefit from some hedging around the pitches for privacy and the male warden could cheer up a bit.
But on the whole a peaceful, beautiful campsite with the cleanest and best kept facilities I have come across and it's a great jump off point for the National Park.
Top tip. The Bridge next to Morrisons at the bottom of the hill does an astonishing full english breakfast
Amazing little retreat
just had a 2 night stay here, and wow , just wow, a little piece of heaven, beautiful little site, immaculate as always with the club sites, nice large pitches with some amazing views, facilities spot on, wardens were very friendly and nice, just a 5 min drive into belper, which is a lovley little town, we had a drive to derby which was again great.
we will be booking here again soon for sure.
Absolutely love it here.
The Firs has to be one of our favourite sites. It’s so quiet, clean and friendly.
The walks for our dogs are great and the local facilities are excellent.
The site is so well maintained it’s like being at home.
The only thing that stopped us exploring the local area more was the heatwave.
This is our second time at this site and it most definitely will not be our last. We love it here.
Nice views
Quiet, relaxing, very well managed
Pitches very clean and tidy
Services clean and well maintained
Surroundings were very pleasant and well kept
Just perfect
Scenery was out of this world
Booked this site as a stop off from Brighton back to the north east. Didn't really investigate it much before we booked it.
Wow, was the first word that popped into my head upon our arrival. The scenery is stunning. I have never been to a site like it. Miles of rolling beautiful English countryside. The picnic area views are amazing. I spent a long time there just admiring the views.
Site is very quite. Everyone nice and friendly. Facilities were superb and very clean. Great location for country walks and the local pub, which was lovely, called the Spanker, was an 8 min walk.
If you are looking for a peaceful, beautiful countryside retreat for a few days, look no further. You will not be disappointed.
Best kept club site.
The relief wardens were friendly, helpful and professional. The regular wardens were the hardest working wardens we’ve seen in ages, they literally never stopped. The Firs is an immaculately kept site, the maintenance of the groundwork was exceptional, there wasn’t a weed to be seen and the loo block was very clean. Well done to all the staff, for a single couple to work as hard as they do, WELL DONE!
We had a Sunday roast at The Devonshire in Belper which was very good.
Archimedes on tour
Oh what a little cutey! Spacious and quite private on some pitches, doggos heaven in the area and lots of walks and places to go and things to do. Clean and peaceful, just what the doctor ordered!
Do follow the instructions to access on this site though and not say nav it’s truly unsuitable in the other direction for towing.
What a gem
What a beautiful site very quiet with great views and the wardens where great very friendly and helpful kept the site beautiful and clean. Will definitely be back
We said we'd be back!!
We have not long been back from a great holiday at The Firs - to have the holiday we should have had last September when we spent 12 days going to and from Royal Derby Hospital for my husband to be treated for a nasty insect bite! It was lovely to meet up again with site managers Annemarie and her husband Perry who were so helpful and kind to us last year and catch up! They have got to be the nicest and friendliest managers ever!!
The site looked beautiful and immaculate, with flowers, well cut grass and a spotless shower block. A great deal of care is taken with touches around the site that make it well worth the stay. My personal favourite is the little bird table with the caravan! There are tables where you can sit and relax and look out over the Derwent Valley - just stunning.
The weather wasn't great in the first week but we got out and about visiting and revisiting some of our favourite places - Chatsworth, Buxton and Bakewell. The Heage windmill is a must and a fascinating tour. We also rode the cable car from Matlock Bath up to the Heights of Abraham - with stunning views.
It really is one of our favourite sites and hope to be back again one of these days.
