Good for families

Pleasantly surprised

Having read some of the reviews of this site we approached our 3 night stay with some trepidation. We booked a serviced pitch to ensure we got a hard standing and bearing in mind the weather forecast it was a good job that we did. We received a very warm welcome from the lady warden and selected a very good sized pitch with a view towards the Abbey. Before we even entered the reception we noticed a board asking members not to walk across the new plantings or other members’ pitches. Bearing in mind the facility block is at the centre of the site walking across pitches must have been very common (one of my pet hates) but the new planting should be commended which should prevent this rude behaviour. The facilities have recently been refurbished and were spotless and spacious. We had several nice walks from the site to the town and along the river. Although overlooked by several flats the site was surprisingly quiet and our nights were not disturbed at all - not even by the Abbey chimes! All things considered we had a very enjoyable few days apart from packing up in the rain! The only negative thing I could say is that the chemical disposal points were both quite a way from our pitch but otherwise we were glad we chose to stay at Tewkesbury Abbey and will undoubtedly stay again when we travel to the West Country.
