Odd place but ultimately enjoyed it
I'm going to explain my ratings.... overall is just an averaging out of the rest ... I hope that's clear to all.
So why?
It would have been a lovely peaceful site with the odd crack of leather on willow and abbey bells aside (I loved both of those) but there was clearly a housing estate behind us and all hours of the day & night we had loud & obscene language or cars / bikes being driven in what seemed to be an aggressive manner - so 2 for peace & quiet. Facilities & cleanliness get 3. It was clean but why do the toilet blocks need to be shut for 1.5 hrs at what I consider prime mid-morning time? Also, I'd expected to be told my pitch number instead I was told 'find any free white peg' bit random and at busy times I could see folks driving round and round...! The pitch we ended up with was fine though but wifi clearly was weak in this corner and to be charged £10 for extremely poor reception & login problems is beyond the pale - personally I don't see why wifi isn't included in the cost and if you want more then 2 devices then you pay. As a network engineer I don't buy the line that it's expensive to install and maintain. I know it's a set and forget system. Location gets a 4 because it was a lovely place to be and good for families is down at 3 - really need a half point then it would be 2.5 and this is because there is nowhere set aside for families to let their kids stretch legs without running through someone else's pitch. .... it may sound like I didn't enjoy it - as a family we did. We loved Tewkesbury, loved the cricket noises and loved the Abbey and its bells and east access to other places... didn't enjoy expensive and $%^& % wifi, cramped pitches, random choice of pitch or the unwelcome noises every day. Would we go again? No but only becasue we try not to do the same place twice.
