Good Site

We visited in our caravan for a mid-week break at the end of April. We had booked a grass pitch and chose No 14 which was flat and firm. We nosed-in to catch the sun on our awning for most of the day. We estimate the site was 75% full with the various non-grass pitches very popular. We did not find it too crowded (we’ve stayed at Cheddar!) but noted some pitches would be quite close (nose-to-nose) when the site is full. The site has the great advantage of being in a town with plenty of eateries and shops within a short walking distance. Details of some excellent leisure walks which start from the site can be obtained from reception. Being within a town the site is surrounded by town features (houses, car park, playing fields) and some ‘external’ noise is inevitable but at no time was it intrusive or bothered us. The new toilet and shower block was as good as any (and better than many) other Club facilities; never too busy and always clean. If proximity to the block is important, don’t confuse line-of-site with distance to travel – the planting is/will be very nice but represents a significant detour for all visits, including washing-up, etc. A cut-through would have been nice (and avoided the need for signs about walking on planted areas and others’ pitches) but would have cost a couple of pitches. Complaining (along with others here) about the door handle may seem trivial but it is difficult to operate, especially with small and/or arthritic hands. The issue could so easily have been avoided and could so easily be now corrected (please). We considered this to be a good site which is well maintained by a team of friendly and helpful wardens and we would stay again if in the area.
