Just a stopover

What can I say. It is just a stopover on your way down south. The only reason we stopped there was to break our journey from Cornwall. Pitches very close, shower block needs updating. Also right next to the public car park. Tewkesbury town itself has lovely architecture but walking around the town is spoilt by the amount of traffic passing through. Will maybe use again but just for a stopover.

STUNNING LOCATION

This site is in a fabulous location and the staff are helpful and friendly. You are met at the gate and directed to Reception, which is a nice touch. Once booked in you are free to find your own pitch. This site has all grass pitches, so in wet weather suitable footwear is a good idea. Facilities are showers and privacy wash cubicles, which are very clean, with lashings of hot water. They are a little dated, however, we have been informed that the site is closed until June next year for refurbishment. There are 2 shower blocks which require key access and these are closed for cleaning at different times, which is very useful. There is also a toilet/wash block which is open all the time. Security on site is excellent with entry and exit controlled by a key operated barrier. The location is brilliant, just a 5 minute walk from Tewekesbury town. The town itself has everything you could want with pubs, restaurants and shops. At one end you have the Abbey, which is a lovely to visit with it's own Tea Shop and the Marina is at the other end. All in all we were sorry to leave this site to return home and can't wait to come back again.

Stunning location

How glorious to be next to the very beautiful Tewkesbury Abbey and the adjacent open land (Wars of the Roses site).  Facilities were clean albeit very tired and inadequate for the number of pitches in use, however we were informed the site is closing from October to June 2017 for a completely renovation (please no bundle of keys for entry). The wardens were informative and helpful. The site was immaculately kept, well laid out with plentiful hook-up units. One of the best children's play areas I have seen anywhere (local authority) was almost immediately outside the gates. Tewkesbury centre was a 2 minute walk away; the tourist information office was well equipped and informative.

Wonderful location

We stayed here for 2 nights at the beginning of August and loved the site. It is perfect for going to the abbey. I was lucky to be able to go to a fabulous sung Eucharist service on the Wednesday and then in the evening, went back to hear an organ recital by George de Voil. It was truly wonderful. It was lovely walking around the town and I was able to cycle around the day we left. The site is beautifully kept. The great location by the town makes it far more appealing than being too far out so you have to drive everywhere. It is beautifully landscaped with the prettiest Reception building I have ever seen in a caravan park, with all the hanging baskets. The only surprise was there were not many showers for the size of the site. I usually get up early so it wasn't a problem, but there was a queue as I left.

Great site

I can only echo the previous reviews. The site is close to the town centre where there are plenty of pubs and restaurants and the town is nice to explore with its old buildings and the abbey. There is a park next door to the site which is great for walking the dog. Good places to visit nearby like Cheltenham and Winchcombe. I would certainly recommend this site and hope to visit again.

Great for Motorhomers

Love this site for its convenience to the town and local facilities. Some lovely pubs and plenty of places to eat. Can also sail up river to a nice pub for lunch. As a motorhomer it is easy to catch buses from outside the site on routes to Cheltenham and Gloucester. Down side is don't be caught out after 10.30 without your key. It's like trying to get in to Fort Knox. Plenty of signs warning you but you tend to forget it also refers to pedestrians. The Premier Inn is a mile up the road if you are locked out but it's not cheap. People complain that the toilets are dated but they are clean and there is plenty of hot water so not a big worry.

Love it

This is a terrifically located site. Virtually in the town centre, easy to get to and plenty to do without having to travel far. As others have stated the toilet blocks are dated and need updating, however they were clean. The wardens informed us that there are plans to build a new block and add hardstandings possibly starting when the site closes later in the year. The addition of tv points would be welcome as reception isn't great.  Tewkesbury is a very pleasant town with plenty of shops, pubs and resteraunts, many of which are dog friendly. A bit further afield,  Ledbury, Upton on Severn and Malvern are well worth a visit. There is a National Trust propery at Croome about 10 miles from Tewkesbury that is worth visiting. It includes a museum dedicated to RAF Defford which was invoved in early radar developments and other sneaky stuff! I would certainly recommend this site and will definitely visit again.

Toilet /showers insufficient

We stayed here for a week in Aug & it was very pleasant but there are 138 pitches ,some of them very cramped. The site was full or nearly so. there are 3 toilet blocks but one has no showers and the other 2 have 2 toilets and 3 showers each. This is woefully insufficient for the nos catered for. This is also a stop over site for West Country visitors so there is a lot of change over. These facilities fall short of those expected from the CC and considering the fee paid not good value.

Tired

We understand the issues with this site in Winter, but since we last stayed her about 15 years ago it has begun to look a little tired, CC need to invest some money into this site, especially the facilty blocks, which I have to say were kept clean by teh wardens. The site itself is all grass, biut perhaps a little landscaping might make motorhomes a little easier to level! Excellent for local facilities though, dont think there is a site closer to a town centre. Good discoints offered in local restaurants - can recoment the Bay Tree! Good pastries for sale at reception as well - you need to be quick!
