Perfect for 3-4 relaxing days

Enjoyed our stay here, en-route to the Northumbrian Coast. Three days seemed about right to visit the high-spots of the area, although for a more relaxing time you'd stay longer. Pitches against the road are a bit noisy from passing traffic - not terrible, but we felt we'd have preferred a pitch further from the road. All pitches are hard-standing, which we don't like. My advice on things to do: 1. The Swan in the Bowes Museum. The museum is worth a full day, but the swan is the high-point. Check it's still performing when you are coming because we heard it's being dismantled for renovation. 2. High Force waterfall. The best waterfall I've seen in the UK. Plenty of flow. The main viewing spot requires just a short walk, but it's well worth seeing it from the other side too, which is a 2-3 mile round-trip walk from the same car park. 3. There are plenty of pubs serving good food, but for a meal that's a cut-above your average pub offering, go to The Crown at Mickleton. About 20 minutes drive from the site and dog-friendly too.
