This is a well located site for visiting the area. There are lots of good days out to be had, such as the Bowes museum if it is raining or the Eggleston Gardens on a nice day. It is a pleasant walk into the town with its lovely castle ruins and a whole host of good pubs. As other people have mentioned, there is some traffic noise from the nearby road, so the early birds get the best pitches down the bottom of the site and the latecomers get the ones with the road behind them. The office doesn't open though till 12.00, so timing is crucial. Overall, a good site with excellent facilities.
