First Visit to Barney

Our first visit to this lovely site. First impressions good with an excellent, friendly welcome from the warden ten out of ten! We had to go on a fully serviced pitch as this was all that was available for our dates. We would not normally bother with fully services and found the ground very hard for pegging out our awning. There is a fair bit of noise from the adjacent road which is not particularly busy but traffic passes by fast! Barnard Castle is attractive and an easy stroll from the site. A bus service stops at the gate, but you need to request them to stop as it is not a designated bus stop. Middleton in Teesdale is a pretty village worth a visit and walks nearby are plentiful. The Crown Inn at Mickleton is a fabulous pub worth a visit. This is a lovely part of the world to visit and was particularly spectacular with the May blossom. Teesdale Way disused railway track is good for cycling/walking too.
