Enjoyable stay

Stayed here for the first time over the bank holiday weekend. Warm welcome from the wardens on arrival who took the time to explain the site, walks and surrounding areas. We were told that the pitch we had chosen we had the option to go in forward to overlook the woodland rather than the caravan opposite, which we chose to do. This was very pleasant on an eve when it became too chilly to sit outside, we could enjoy the evening without the need to close the blinds. The site itself was full but didn’t feel busy and the toilets and facilities were spotless. The walk through the woodland into Barnard Castle was very nice and a visit to the castle itself is recommended. The meadows dog walk is one of the best on site walks we have come across and is a rival to the one at Hawes. There is some road noise, but we didn’t find it intrusive at all, and we mostly heard bird song. We are looking forward to our next visit in September.
