Have you considered carrying matting to run the chair over? It’s what some other folk do.
I guess to alter the surface on a couple of pitches and reserve them permanently for chair users would put them out of bounds to other users thus possibly causing reverse discrimination? I’d go for self sufficiency with mats as you never know where you might find them handy.
Hope the rest of your trip was successful.

" in all honesty we have to go with majority of members requests and we do not get many users of mobility scooters, electric wheelchairs etc using the club! "
That response is a load of Tommyrot. I thought that sites had mats for such a purpose? I would definitely contact the Club sites team and explore this further.

I'm sorry but I have often seen mobility scooter users on Club sites. I use an electric e-foldi which is much smaller & lighter than mobility scooters (for adding mobility to those who need a little help) so I dont have this problem, but I do tend to notice mobility scooters.
From a numeric point of view of course mobility disabled people are in a minority but that is no reason why the Club shouldn't be more accommodating.
The site access statement simply states that pitches are hardstanding - doesnt even state gravel, let alone deep gravel. The access statements for some sites state that no rollout mats are available. One might presume that other sites do have them!!
I do think you should be writing to HQ and expressing your concerns. Lots of disabled people caravan or motorhome, and more people are having mobility problems. This is something that the Club should be giving serious consideration to.

I have just read this and I have to admit it isn't something I've thought about before. However I have to say that it is totally unacceptable for site staff to respond as they did. The Equality Act makes it perfectly clear that it is a legal requirement for reasonable adjustments to be made. Why should the disabled member need to carry around ground mats to enable them to operate their scooter ? The club should ensure that every site has this kind of equipment available and members should never be discriminated against in this way. The site staff should have contacted the club's head office and raised this matter.
