A return visit

£135 for three adults (our daughter is grown up) for three nights is, we think, very expensive considering it wasn't the week either side of Easter. Our expectations are therefore higher considering we are paying premium rates. This time the heating was working properly in the loos but water pressure in the showers was variable from too strong to weak. The internet was, frankly, rubbish. It was frustrating, time consuming and ultimately difficult to use the Internet. Speeds were so slow as not to register on my Speedtest app. The site was nowhere full. The exit barrier was only working intermittently and we had to queue to leave as it was cranked up by the warden. The positives continue to be the enjoyable walk into Barnard Castle and it is a good town to visit. The facilities are kept immaculately. I think the Caravan Club has fallen into the hands of accountants and commercially minded advisers so we have Yurts, pods and hire agreements for eye wateringly expensive American vans, an unnecessary and expensive makeover and rebranding exercise which I can't find anybody wanted and fees which have been increased to be in line with private sites. The club has lost its focus on relatively simple sites with clean facilities with reasonable costs for holidays. It's a pity. We stayed on a CL after leaving here. £22/night. Great value. And it had loos and a shower.
