Setting the 'bar'

My wife and I planned a big tour around Northern England, several sites - 18-28 September. Have been motorhomes since 2014. We both agree this is the best quality and facility site we have stayed at in our 5 years. Immaculately neat and well-tended site. Extremely friendly staff, cheerful to us arriving after several rainy days. Probably there best 'dog field' adjacent site we have seen. Toilet/showers block immaculate. Even a nice touch of hedge-lined pavement walk, between main areas for pitches, to the Toilet/showers block. What, with the pretty and ancient town of Barnard Castle, and 25 minute woodland/beck walk from site to town, this site is now our No. 1

Wardens

I arrived on this site on Tuesday 10th September. The wardens were very welcoming and helpful. Nothing was too much bother and they always had a smile. Unfortunately I've had to cut my holiday as there is an emergency at home. Again the wardens have gone out of their way. I will definitely be back.

So impressed we booked another visit

We had booked two nights at this site to break up a journey to Scotland. The site is well maintained, the facilities are clean, plenty of hot water and the staff friendly. Barnard Castle is lovely. The Bowes Museum is well worth a visit. The site is close to local facilities so we cycled everywhere. We were so impressed with the site, we booked another night to break up our return journey.

Fabulous

This was our first ever stay on a club site (or any other for that matter) in a motorhome - and what great choice and fantastic place to be introduced into motorhoming at ! Wonderful, understanding, friendly and helpful staff. The site is spacious, fantastically well maintained, quiet and - most importantly (and impressively given all of the facilities) - absolutely spotless, clean, tidy and beautifully cared for. Add to this the lovely location, adjacent meadow and nature reserve along with all of the great places to see and visit. To us, Teesdale set the ‘Gold Standard’ for the rest of our holiday .... and was rarely matched but never bettered. A huge thank you to all of the staff - who were fundamental in making the site and our stay so relaxed and happy.

Well placed for a beautiful setting

This is a very well maintained site, clean, tidy, nicely laid out with decent amounts of space and a goodly amount of hedges and trees. Thanks to the staff for such a good job. The site is not huge (a good thing) but it's easy to access and a pleasure to arrive. We loved the area (and would like to move to Barnard Castle) and there is plenty to see and enjoy. We walked up to High Force on a sunny and windy day, enjoying every minute of it. We really liked the town, its variety and friendliness (and the Firkin micropub). The only blemish for this lovely site is the proximity of the road; it's not hugely busy, but the traffic when it's there makes quite a noise. However, we were on the third row back and the noise didn't really disturb us with the door and windows shut. We'll be back, nonetheless . . .

Dog Heaven!

We loved this site, particularly our dog! The Dog Meadow is an incredible facility, such a pleasant environment to have a little walk round whether you have a dog or not. There are walks in the woods available next to the site too and some good spots for paddling in the river too. As you would hope from a Caravan Club site, the site is very well looked after, has friendly and helpful staff and is a pleasant walk away from the town centre (take the footbridge rather than going round the road way). We also recommend a visit to Hamsterley forest, the fish and chips van and the Three Horseshoes Pub in town.

Summer Holiday July 2019

This is a lovely site with well spaced out pitches excellent service points and a more than adequate modern toilet block with one added advantage a drying room. We stayed there for 5 nights as I wanted to visit Weardale Preserved Railway at Witten-le-Wear to have a train ride on their 1958 Class 122 Bubble car. I was quite surprised that three were no leaflets about the attraction in the information room. Following my visit the lady in their shop at Stanmore Station gave a bundle of leaflets that are now sited in the site information room. The site is close to Barnard Castle but beware it is readable hilly on your return journey. It took me 15 minutes for town centre to the site via the pathway on the B6277. there is an alternative way via the river Tyne but it can be slippy and uneven in places and takes longer. We dined out on two occasions at The Three Horse Shoes Hotel in the town centre. The food was excellent and as I have a gluten allergy I had good options on the menu. My only criticism of the site was with the Wi-fi we were on pitch 71 on the lower level of the site where I found the coverage extremely poor. My advice would check out the best coverage area before you pitch up.

Favourite site and wardens

Another stay at our favourite site, we have been asked several times why we keep coming back to the same site? Location Facilities Site layout Dog walk importantly though, the wardens, who are brilliant, hard working and a credit to the ‘Club’.A special mention to Jacqui who usually books us in with such a happy smile, oh and yes, we will be back.

EXcellent as always, we must stay longer

We have visited this site several times usually as a stopover on our way to Scotland. It never disappoints and we must make a point of staying longer next time to get the full experience of the town and surrounding area. Excellent facilities, great dog walk. Wardens extremely friendly and helpful.
