Slightly Overrated (In My Opinion)

Perhaps we just timed our stay wrong? Perhaps we just picked the wrong pitch? Who knows? Our first ever stay on a CAMC site (at the highly regarded Sutton-on-Sea site) was a little sour and I don’t think we will be rushing back anytime soon. Firstly, the location is great for access to Sandilands Beach. It was less than 20 minutes walk away. However, there isn’t much else to do around Sandilands, so be prepared to walk quite a while for anymore activities. The toilet and shower facilities were excellent (if you timed it right) but on most occasions I had to do a little bit of extra cleaning myself, because some campers are far too lazy and don’t leave the toilets as clean as they should. It’s unfair on the Wardens to leave the toilets in such a state, especially with all the extra Covid Secure arrangements. We didn’t really find the site peaceful at all. This was probably down to it being the school holidays though, I suppose. Oh, and having residents of Poplar Farm Campsite (behind the CAMC site) shouting and laughing into the early hours on a hot summer evening. I’m all for kids playing and enjoying themselves, but please do it around your own pitches. It’s a shame the Wardens didn’t ‘coach’ the kids playing ball games around the motorhome service point in the middle of the road, when they were so quick to tell a 4 and 5 year old girl off for riding little electric scooters in front of their own pitch next to ours. They weren’t our kids, but it seemed nonsensical when teenagers are allowed to race around the access roads on bicycles, scooters and skateboards creating more of a hazard. I’m sure this site is great for a lot of families, but it just wasn’t for us. Shame.
