Our First and Not Our Last
Our first visit to this site and welcome escape post lockdown. Good procedures on arrival the staff were friendly and helpful (one person in the office at a time and masks must be worn).
Toilet and shower block are lovely having been recently refurbished in the last couple of years, I particularly like that showers and toilets are separated at each end of the block.
The shower block has wrist bands which worked well with most of the people on site adhering to the system (only 4 in at a time). Most people were sticking to the rules, though with about 4 of us ladies waiting to go in, one lady emerged was reminded to take her band from the hook and she shrugged her shoulders and ran off, apparently the rules don’t apply to everyone! On another occasion there were 4 bands on the hooks and a short queue waiting – it appeared there was no one in the facilities at all!! I appreciate it takes time to adjust to a new system, luckily the weather was dry and warm. Wardens taking on extra cleaning procedures and facilities closed for a short time in the evenings as well as the morning cleaning.
Good location for bike riding along the promenade by the sea to Mablethorpe and fairly quiet roads for other routes. 10 mins cycle ride to fantastic sandy beach at Sandilands and lovely prom walks.
We were on a fully serviced pitch and fortunate to find a decent pitch. BUT there are 4 in the middle of the surrounding pitches – nos 96-99 offer very little privacy, especially no. 99 marker side on and very much in the gold fish bowl. Club charge premium for serviced pitches and would be better to remove this pitch rather than try to squeeze as many in as possible.
For us as older campers we would prefer a bit of peace and quiet and whilst we appreciate its August and school holidays when we usually avoid going away, nothing is normal in 2020. One night 2 campers sat opposite either side of the road were out chatting and drinking until well after 11pm. AND we were unfortunate in pitching where there is a ‘sleeping policeman’ speed bump in the road and throughout the day the children were coming by on bikes and scooters and having great fun in ‘jumping over’ the bumps.
Site staff great as always and fish n chip van was a bonus.
